Pompey Women Visit Hayes Lane - London City Lionesses (A)

Pompey Women were beaten 5-1 by high-flying London City Lionesses at Hayes Lane in the Championship.

Over 30+ Blues made the trip up to Hayes Lane to watch the Blues in action this weekend (6th Oct 2024).

The Stadium was fairly easy to find although this weekend the Junction at the top of the A3 which meets the M25 was temporarily closed and it caused a few issues with fans traveling up with Sat Navs constantly rerouting due to traffic. Fans were sent off on all sorts of quirky reroutes off through the countryside and more..

Once you arrive at Hayes Lane the Stadium had lots of first come first served onsite parking including a large overflow carpark and there were lots of available street parking for supporters when both the carparks started to overflow.

We thought it was amusing the selection of Farm animals that were casually roaming in the field alongside the main carpark and Entrance Road.

Upon entry through the turnstiles into the stadium fans could either walk around the stadium to find their seat or could turn Right into the Club House. The Clubhouse was built into the main stand and looked pretty new and modern. Inside it had a large bar witch housed more than plenty of seating and had all of the usual amenities a fan may need. On entry down into the bar, either side of the walkway, there was a mini museum type area which housed some of Bromley's (The team London City Groundshare with) Silverware they had won and featured different signed match worn shirts / Memorabilia witch was interesting to stop and look through when passing.

The traveling Pompey Fans were mainly located in the South West corner of the Stadium in one of the Standing Terraced bits to the Left of the "John Fiorini Stand". We had a great clear view over the pitch however did get a bit wet when the weather started to turn slightly later in the game due to that section not having a roof!

It was nice to see the Pompey fans really getting behind the girls, having a good laugh and making some noise despite the score line. It was amazing the turnout of Pompey Flags that were on display at the game with people Joking 'we had more flags then they (London City) had Fans!'

A personal highlight from the game was the "We Scored a goal" chant the Pompey fans sang after we scored! A Nice way to lighten the spirits after a tough start to the season.

It was noted once again Megan Hornby lead the players over at full time to acknowledge the travelling supporters with the players met by Blue Army chants.
